Suite Facilities

On board the Blue Train, luxury assumes a new dimension. You’ll feel it from the moment you step into your suite, transformed from an elegant, spacious lounge by day into a sanctuary of comfort and slumber by night. The deluxe suite offers you a choice between twin beds (with shower) or double beds (with bath). Luxury suites are more spacious and offer twin or double beds with bath. Each suite is a world on its own, with an individually controlled air-conditioned system and a private entertainment centre with a choice of movie channels and radio stations. The luxury suite takes the choice even further with an inviting selection of compact discs and movies on video and DVD. The Blue Train is synonymous with the luxury of personal service that comes as standard with a dedicated butler at your beck and call.

Fine Dining

The Blue Train provides fine dining and gourmet cuisine and its complemented with carefully selected South African wines. All meals are freshly prepared by Executive Chefs on board the train. The Blue Train is fully equipped to accommodate vegetarian, Halaal, Kosher or other special dietary requirements, which should be specified when you make your reservation. Join us at one of two dinnertime sittings, or savour your meal in the comfort of your suite. A Continental or full English breakfast is served at your leisure.

Elegant Lounge Facilities

The warm ambience of the lounge car with its large windows allows for panoramic views of the passing countryside. After dinner, guests can enjoy a cigar and cognac in the Club Car before the retire to the suites. You can while away the miles with a game of cards, chess or backgammon, tune in to the big-screen television or browse through a volume from the library while savouring your beverage of choice from the well-stocked bar. Unwind, relax, and indulge.

Routing

Pretoria to Cape Town (or vice versa)

The route between Pretoria and Cape Town is a 27 hour journey through some of the most diverse and spectacular scenery.

En rotue to Cape Town, there is a stopover and excursion in Kimberley, where guests take a step back in time to the days of the diamond rush. On the north bound journey, the train stops at Kleinstraat siding for an off-the-train excursion at Aquila Game Reserve, where guests can view and interact with the cheetah of this private game reserve.
